RIPPED UP FARMLANDS
In 2021 half of the original course land was sold to new farmers. Their goal was to have all the vines and orchards pulled out and replanted with almond trees. This was originally supposed to be completed in time for the 2022 race. Unfortunately, it is not, it is currently in process of being ripped out, and that half of the course is in unusable condition, plus all the beauty has turned into a barren graveyard of uprooted trees.
NEW 2.5 MILE COURSE
The good news is the other half of the course is still intact with fruit orchards. After inspecting several alternative routes of the college farms we were able to make up a new course that includes vines, fields, and running by the college cows. Mooo!
The new course is a bit longer coming in at 2.5-miles and will now consist of 2 loop sections that intersect at the creek crossing to make a figure 8 style course. This new route is flatter as we lost the hill section from the old course making it even easier to complete more laps.
100-MILES
With the longer 2.5 mile loop, this means it will only take 40-laps to complete 100-miles. We also eliminated the shorter 1-mile loop as we were not able to get an exact mile configuration with the available lands.
10K IS NOW 12K
Due to the new lap distance, the 10K will now get bumped up to a 12K race by completing 3-laps of the 2.5-mile course.
Below are details and a map for you to review. Thank you for your understanding and support. We will review it again for 2023 to see if we will be able to go back to the original course or keep this new course (which we really like).
