Yes. Event parking will be on the farms within the race location. While there is ample parking, depending on where you are coming from it can be a long drive, so we recommend to buddy up and carpool to the race together and make it an awesome race adventure!
When parking:
- Park on the dirt road so there is plenty of room for cars to drive by
- Do not block any roads or driveways or other cars or you will be towed
- Lock your car and do not leave any valuables visible (Gear drop is available at the start)
- Look both ways and be careful when crossing the road and course when walking to the race location
- When leaving please be aware of other participants that may still be racing when crossing the course
Yes. In order to receive your race bib, timing chip, and swag, you will need to turn in a signed waiver and show your ID. You may download and print the waiver ahead of time and bring it with you to help expedite your check-in. Waiver printouts will be available at check-in.
The Silver Moon Race is trying to be as green as possible and create minimal waste. Please help us by bringing your own water bottle or hydration pack for the race. You can refill water and Gnarly electrolytes at the aid station. Below you will find a list of recommended items for running the race.
If you are running for 24-hours or 100-miles you will need to plan out your run as much as possible. Especially if this is your first run for that long. While we will have lots of water and food to keep you going, you may require or be used to specific foods and fuel to get you through the race. It is best to over-prepare your gear and food to ensure you have the best race possible.
Yes. You can accomplish anything you want as long as you set your mind to do it and train for it. The race is planned for participants of all abilities—including walkers. While doing any endurance activity for 6 or more hours can be a challenge, you can run or walk as much as you like. If you are new to this type of event, we suggest doing the 6-hour time to make it even easier to do it in a team relay. Grab 3 friends, and team up to take turns doing laps for the time period.
However, if you are not ready for the longer endurance challenge, you can sign up for the new 12K race, which is just 3-laps.
Even though the race is fully chip‑timed for official results, every runner will also use our on‑course leaderboards to track their completed loops. Leaderboards will be available for all race categories and relay teams. This gives you a quick, visual way to see your progress lap by lap.
As you finish each loop:
- Stop at the leaderboard for your race category
- Find your name—the list is in alphabetical order by first name
- Mark off your newly completed lap
- Head back out
It takes only a few seconds and is highly recommended. For accuracy and fairness, only the runner may mark their own laps.
We’ll provide a selection of colored Sharpies, but bringing your own marker—or even a small personal stamp—is encouraged. Having your own color makes it easier to spot your row and watch your progress grow throughout the race.
Leaderboards will be organized by distance and time category, with runners listed alphabetically for easy lookup.
Here's an example of a past leaderboard sheet.
Relay teams consist of 4-team members and can run in the 6/12/24-hour or 100-mile race categories. Teams doing the 100-mile category can push on for up to 30-hours to get 100 or more miles as a team!
TEAM ROTATION
Relay team members need to determine their set rotation order before starting. Who will run first, second, third, etc. This order needs to remain consistent as the team completes their laps.
As a team, you have the following options on how to do the relay:
- Option 1: Rotate each lap until finished.
- Option 2: Rotate on an equal set of 2-4 laps until finished.
- Option 3: Rotate on a fixed time, ie. 90-minutes for each runner in 6-hours, 3-hours for 12-hours, 6-hours for 24-hours, etc.
The team needs to decide how they wish to race and to be in communication so everyone is aware of who is going next and approximately when they will be going next. It is recommended for relay teams to camp at the race, preferably near the festival, but it's okay to choose a spot along the course.
TEAM MEMBER EXCHANGE
The pass-off can happen at the lap checkpoint or anywhere on the course as long as it is always at the same location for everyone. The main requirement is to divide the relay as equally as possible among the team.
Each team member will receive a bib and must wear their bib while running their laps. The bib will have the timing chip to track their time.
RELAY TEAM REGISTRATION
Relay teams register once as a team with one single payment. The team leader will need to collect entry fees and information from each team member and register the entire team with one payment.
For relay teams and solo runners in the 6, 12, or 24-hour or 100-mile race. When within the final hour, you need to determine your final lap(s) to run.
FINAL HOUR CUT-OFF:
- 60-20 minutes: Okay to run another lap.
- 20-0 minutes: Do not run. You are finished.
It is okay if you go past the cut-off time while on the final lap. The total distance and time will be counted.
If you have registered your team and one of the registered team members can't make it to the race, simply submit a team member change request so we can get the correct information for the new team member in our system, and they can check in at the race.
Incomplete relay teams of 3 or 2 members can still participate in the race as a relay team and still earn a medal. However, to keep everything fair, they will not qualify for the top relay team trophies.
Yes. Crew and pacers are allowed on the course to help support your race. There is a $25 pacer fee, and they will be able to have full access to the support station and Sunday meals. Pacers will receive a pacer bib.
You can sign up your pacers at the time of registration, or you can add them via our contact form.
Pacers can be very helpful for 12/24-hour and 100-mile runners. All pacers, crew, spectators, and family are required to turn in a signed waiver at check-in and follow race rules.
It is the runner's responsibility to collect the waiver for each person attending the race in support of them. Please add the runner's bib number to the waiver and note the bib number if it's for PACER/CREW/SPECTATOR.
Waivers are available for download in the waiver question above.
Yes. Camping space is available at the race location, where you can set up a tent, canopy, car camp, or even an RV, which can be your home base for the race weekend. Then you can access it before the race, on lap breaks, and after the race.
There are a variety of camping zones available. View the camping page for full details. Camping spots are first-come, first-served.
Those wishing to camp MUST arrive no later than 2:00 PM on Saturday to set up and prepare. We recommend arriving early to set up camp, settle in, enjoy nature, check in, and then take a nap before the race starts at 6:00 PM.
You can reserve a spot with your registration. Please note that for large RVs, fifth wheel, or trailers, space will be limited on the tight farm roads. You must be comfortable navigating tight and off-road conditions. If unsure, contact us for details. Smaller RVs, campers, trucks, SUVs, or cars capable of driving on dirt farm roads can access the camp locations to set up.

The 6, 12, and 24-hour races cut off at their specified times. Those doing the 100-mile race must reach 85-miles by the 24-hour mark to continue for an additional 6-hours to do 100-miles within 30-hours.
24-hour runners who wish to attempt to go for 100-miles over 24-hours have the option to upgrade mid-race to the 100-mile distance.
The 100-mile race cutoff is 30-hours, runners who do not reach 100-miles will not get DNF, but will have their total miles noted in the results.
Yes! Bring your own water bottle. We are attempting to be a green as possible with this race and want to minimize waste and environmental footprint. We ask that you bring your own running bottle or hydration pack. This will help reduce the use of paper cups, plastic water bottles, and overall waste. Since you will have access to the station and supplies every 2-miles you can refill your water container very frequently (there will be cups if needed). The station will have electrolytes, gels, snacks, foods, salt capsules and first aid available to help you refuel and stay hydrated. Also please avoid throwing any trash on the course or at the race, place all trash in the trash containers. Thank you!
Awards are given to the top 3 male and female winners in each solo category. To qualify for the awards, you must be in the 6:00 PM start time on Saturday. Awards are handed out upon the category finish time.
For those who are running the 6 or 12-hour category and wish to start at 6:00 AM on Sunday, you will not be qualified for awards. However, if you do come in 1st overall once results are tallied, then you will be recognized in the results and finisher certificates.
Relay teams are awarded 1st place award for relay team categories.
Yes. The course will be clearly marked using colored flags and directional signs. Various sections of the course will have tracking lights at the main corners to follow, plus glow sticks placed throughout the course on Saturday night to help guide runners. Yes. The age requirements are as follows.
- 12K - 12-years old
- 6/12-Hours - 14-years old
- 24-Hours/100-Miles - 16-years old
As this is a challenging endurance race for extended periods of time, younger runners can run the race with approval from the Race Director. Young runners who wish to participate need parents' consent and provide proof that they are in regular endurance and fitness training to take on this type of challenge. Please contact the Race Director.
Yes. As the race location is far from the parking location, there will be a gear drop available where you can put your bag/gear and have easy access as needed during lap checkpoints, breaks, and after the race.

- Extra trail running shoes
- Extra pairs of socks
- Layers of clothes for cooler weather
- Running headlamp with extra batteries

- Sunscreen and lip balm
Write or tape your bib number in large, clear view on your drop bag.
Note: We are not responsible for the contents of your bags. Please keep them closed and sealed. Do not leave important valuables in them.
Yes. There will be portable toilets by the race staging location on the course for easy access.
April usually offers some of the best weather to run in Central California. The average high temperature is 80º with the average low at 48º. Plan for the night run to be cool with day temperatures warming up throughout the race. For those doing the 24-hour and 100-mile races, we recommend having layers or a change of running clothes to adjust to the temperatures. We recommend checking the local weather forecast before the race so you can plan appropriately.
For your safety and the safety of all participants, we do not recommend wearing headphones while running a race. However, if you do, we ask that you keep the volume down at a safe level so you can hear other runners and instructions from event personnel. The important thing is paying attention to everyone’s safety and maintaining good running and race etiquette with other runners.
No. This is an all dirt farm road course. Unauthorized bicycles, motorized vehicles, wheelchairs, and strollers are not permitted on the racecourse due to safety concerns.
No. Unless there is severe weather on the days before and on the race day, the Silver Moon Race will be held whether it’s sunny, raining, snowing, or anything in between. The weather only adds to the adventure to make for an awesome race experience!
Yet, there are still potential risks that are beyond our control that could cause a race to be canceled or postponed. We hope that will never happen, however, we do have an event cancellation policy.
The race will be chip timed for best accuracy using a MyLaps timing system with BibTag chips that are attached to your race bib. Final results will be posted on this website after the race.
To ensure your chip is tracked and timed correctly:
- Always keep the BibTag visible; do not remove or cover it with a jacket
- Do not excessively bend or twist the BibTag
- Do not attach beside or under a zip: metal has a negative impact on the BibTag chip
- Do not wear on your back or side, or around your arm or leg
- Do not cover the BibTag with your hand or arm when crossing the finish line:
runners often do this when checking their watch when crossing the line - Always remember that the mat must 'see' the number when you cross the finish
line - Do not separate the BibTag from the start number
Yes. Distance and race change requests are available. The cut-off for all changes is 1-week before the race date. Submit a change request from the contact page and choose Subject: Change My Distance (Upgrade or Downgrade).
Live race changes during the race are available as well. Runners can choose to upgrade or drop down mid-race. Upgrades need to be paid for on the spot at the timing booth, cash or charge. For either option, runners need to notify the timing booth of their distance change.
Unfortunately, due to the advanced planning and logistics entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. As per the terms agreed upon registering, once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. Sorry, no exceptions.
You do have the following options available:
- Change your entry to Virtual and receive your medal & swag in the mail.
- Defer your entry to the following year ($50 processing fee).
- Transfer your entry to another runner ($30 processing fee).
- Forego your entry and receive a 50% discount towards any of our other races in California within the next year.
Requests MUST be submitted before the race date. Requests on or after the race date will not be honored. Entries that have been deferred once can not be deferred a second time.
You may not give or sell your number to anyone else without submitting an official transfer request.
Relay Teams
For the relay teams, if one of the team members becomes injured or is unable to participate, then that team member can transfer their entry to a new team member so the team has 4-participants.
Please submit your request from the contact page.
No, it is not. The event takes place on private property. Those entering into the start/finish area or intentionally jumping into the race just after the start, using the marked course, racing against other runners, etc. are essentially freeloading off of the race and the other runners, regardless of whether they take aid station supplies, medals or other race supplies.
Permits, insurance and race materials for the event are obtained with set numbers of participants planned and accounted for. Costs for events are also planned, taking into account those numbers and sharing the race costs among all entrants.
When people “hijack” a race they jeopardize the race’s ability to come back, create potential for problems for other runners trying to determine their place in the race and for support personnel to identify participants and (if necessary) provide emergency support. Like shoplifting, being a race bandit does not cost the person taking anything, but the cost ultimately goes to the people who follow the rules and pay to run the race.
The virtual runner registration option is a service for runners who are physically unable to make it to a race but still wish to train for and achieve a running goal as part of the race. This includes persons who live far from urban areas with races and those with schedules that simply will not allow them to be present. Runners receive race materials via mail and then can report back on their run and share their accomplishments with other runners in the community. This can be done alone or with a group of runners.
Running remotely will never be as good as running in person at the actual event, but for those with no other options, it offers a way to stay connected to their running community to help them commit to and celebrate their running achievements.
